Professor Indiresan is a former Director, IIT Madras, Past President of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and of the Institution of Electronics and telecommunications Engineers. He is currently Chairman of the Netaji Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi and of the National School of Management, Chennai and a director of the Indian Institute of Risk Management.
He was twice awarded the top prize of the Inventions Promotion Board, Government of India, Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Institute of Science and the Honorary D.Sc. by the Karnataka Technical University. His students have built a hostel in his name in IIT Delhi and a former colleague has endowed a lecture in his name at the same Institute. He has a Padma Bhushan and the Honarary Membership of the Institute Of Electronics and Electrical Engineers, USA.
He has written two books Managing Development: Geographical Socialism, Decentralisation and Urban Replication as well as Vision 2020: What India Can Be and How To Make That Happen as well as chapters in over thirty books. He has a regular fortnightly column in the Hindu Business line.

Mike Scholey is a freelance ELT consultant and former senior lecturer in ELT at University College Plymouth St Mark & St John (Marjon), where he taught on the MEd ELT/ESP and Trainer Development courses and developed a new MEd CLIL. He was involved in the CBSE Textbook Project (1995-6).. He worked on both the English Language Improvement (ELIP) and Key Skills for Women Teacher Trainers (KEYSWOTT) projects in Ethiopia, and was consultant for both the National Mozambique English Curriculum and the New Ukrainian University ESP Curriculum (with Rod Bolitho). Mike is particularly interested in Syllabus Design, Materials Design and Development, Teacher and Trainer Development, and Content & Language Integrated Learning. His publications include a commissioned work on Business English; Highway: A Moroccan ELT Programme (video and accompanying workbook) for the British Council; and several journal articles. |

Speaker Profile:
Prof. Jaya Indiresan was professor of Higher Education at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi. Earlier she had taught at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has been a visiting professor at the University of Manitoba, Canada and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Michigan, USA. Currently she is a free lance consultant to several national and international organizations.
She has authored three books: 1) Education for Women is Empowerment: Gender Positive Initiatives in Pace Setting Women in Colleges; 2) Institutionalization of Innovations in Higher Education; and 3) Inclusion vs Exclusion: A study of Women in Police.
She has produced a training manual on Women in Academic Leadership, Sponsored y the University Grants Commission. She has several research publications in national and international journals, produced several research monographs and undertaken several evaluation studies for various organizations.
Her areas of interest include Institution Building and Human Resource Development, with special reference to women. She is deeply involved in training for capacity building in various sectors like educational administrators, women in agriculture, women in police and so on. She is on the Board of CAP Foundation.

Vanamala Viswanatha is an award-winning translator, working with Kannada and English. Apart from publishing seminal articles on various issues in English Studies and Translation Studies in both languages, she has translated into English and introduced Sara Aboobacker's Kannada novel (Breaking Ties, Macmillan India,2001) and an anthology of short stories by well-known Kannada writer P. Lankesh (When Stone Melts, 2004, Sahitya Akademi). She has co-edited Routes : Representations of the West in Short Fiction from South India, (Macmillan India,2000) in English and J Krishnamurti's writing into Kannada. Prof.Viswanatha is currently translating the first Kannada social novel Indira Bai for Oxford University Press and Harischandra Kavyam, a 13thcentury, medieval Kannada work for Harvard University Press, for the Murthy Classical Library of India Series. She has worked as Honorary Director, Centre for Translation, Sahitya Akademi, Bangalore and as Director of the Katha Translation for Equity Network. |

Dr. Nellie Deutsch is the founder of Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning(IT4ALL), an online informal network of volunteers that provides free and low-cost professional development workshops for educators around the world. Dr. Deutsch has written chapters in books on the use of technology and research (and has peer-reviewed articles, proposals for conferences, and books on technology enhanced learning. She also edits books on Moodle. Nellie reviews proposals for the International Leadership Association (ILA), TESOL conferences and other organizations.
Dr. Deutsch has presented on technology enhanced learning and educational leadership at conferences in the United States and virtually around the world. Nellie organized and chaired a panel discussion on the merits and challenges of integrating technology into the classroom at the International Leadership Association (ILA) in London, in 2011. She also participated in a panel discussion on culture in the English classroom and how Moodle can be used for intercultural projects at TESOL 2012. Nellie is an invited guest at the upcoming leadership convention in Atlantic University in the fall of 2012. She will present conduct a workshop on authenticity and leadership.
